NPS Sign Order Process

All road guide, visitor information and park id signs are designed at Harpers Ferry Center.  There is no charge for this service.  You may initiate your project by contacting the staff at Harpers Ferry Center (Bob Clark, 304-535-5022 or Lauren Morrison, 304-535-6491) or by contacting Liz Gamelier at Bunting Graphics (412) 820-2200 x257, lizg@buntinggraphics.com.

You will receive an email acknowledgment from HFC within a week of submitting your request and they will provide you with the project number and details about their process.  The design staff at HFC ensures conformance to NPS UniGuide standards in relation to design, format and language. The process for layouts may take several weeks or longer depending upon the nature of the sign request and the number of staff involved in the approval process.

Once your drawings are approved, the approved set will be sent to Bunting Graphics.  Our estimator will provide the park with a delivered cost for the sign package via email.  The approved quote may be ordered with a task order from our contract C1105050001 on IDEAS.   Orders that ship within 30 days may use a government purchase card.

Once Bunting receives your order, you will receive an email notification providing you with the Bunting Graphics Sales Order number as an acknowledgement.  The next step will be for you to review the final production shop drawing and proof files for your order.  The time from order entry to submittal of art and proofs is about 2 weeks.  It is the responsibility of the park to confirm that the drawings and art proofs submitted do indeed reflect the intended order in all details.

It is imperative that you review the shop drawings and proofs carefully.  There are often verbal requests and discussions that occur with orders and the Bunting production drawings provide a final double check to ensure that we’ve interpreted the order correctly.

If you do not understand the drawings we’ve provided, do not approve them until you have discussed them with either our project engineer here at Bunting (Todd Turner, 412-820-2200 x262) or you’ve conferred with staff at HFC to feel comfortable with the approval.  If a drawing receives final approval from the park and is later determined to be incorrect in some manner upon delivery, the responsibility lies with the park to replace the sign.

The investment in UniGuide signage will provide your park with years of service with an attractive and visitor friendly appearance.  We appreciate your business and look forward to serving your park signage needs for years to come.
