  Sign Configuration
Visitor Information Signs provide information to visitors who are on foot, riding bicycles, or traveling by motor vehicle at very low speed. VIS signs come in a variety of configurations, all based on a modular system of sign panels and supporting hardware. The modular nature of VIS signsd allows information to be presented in discrete, easily understood "eyefuls" consistent with how research indicates visitors are most able to receive it, including those with learning difficulties.

The VIS hardware is available in a range of materials selected to ensure durability and be appropriate in various landscapes. Choices for VIS hardware include weathering, galvanized or painted steel posts, or painted aluminum posts, each combined withanodized aluminum extrusions that hold sign panels. Sign panels are also available in a range of materials and sizes.

The VIS kit of parts allows signs to be configured in an endless number of ways, from single panel pedestrian guidance signs to complex assemblies that provide information to visitors in multiple languages.

  Installation

NPS signs are designed to accomodate various site conditions. The stabilizer fin allows most signs to be installed into soil without the use of concrete. A sleeve mount allows the sign to be removed seasonally or to avoid damage by flood waters or snowplows.
